How to Store Ginger

I LOVE ginger and when I get my hands on it my creative cooking juices go CRAZY! (Now, I must admit that if I can get a good price at the store, like $.50 a pound, I buy a lot of it for future use.)

How to Store Ginger

In the Refrigerator: When I buy a lot fresh ginger I try to plan some tasty meals for the upcoming week that will use it. To keep it fresh in the refrigator, I will wrap it in a paper towel and then place inside a paper bag or a plastic bag. I haven’t kept it long enough to see which method will keep the longest. If you do use a plastic bag be sure to use lots of paper towels to absorb all the liquid.

In the Freezer:  I love my Pampered Chef Microplane - I use it for everything, included for ginger. Just grab some plastic wrap,  place on your counter and start grating onto the plastic. TIP: Make it into a line and then freeze it like this and when you need some you can pull it out and cut off what you need for your dish.
